Knowledge Day Care Organizations 2021: living with a visual impairment

08-06-2021

Joey van der Bie, researcher at Digital Life, gave two presentations on June 7., 2021 about his research for people with a visual impairment. That day the joint 'Knowledge Day 2021' of various care organizations for people with a visual impairment took place, namely Koninklijke Visio, Bartiméus and the Robbert Coppes Foundation.

BARTIMÉUS IMPACT PROJECT

Joey presented preliminary results of the collaboration project with Bartiméus, looking at factors and methodologies that can help increase the impact of innovation projects related to eHealth technology. This information has been collected from best practices of existing innovation projects and literature.

During this workshop methodologies were discussed that can contribute to a higher impact of an innovation project, both for the organization and the client.

Colleague Nienke Nijhof, who works as program manager eHealth at Bartiméus and as of August 1 this year also as a researcher at Digital Life, shared the stage with Joey during this contribution.

INCLUDING INNOVATION

In addition, he presented together with Koninklijke Visio and Bartiméus on the current theme: 'Inclusive innovation'. This contribution focused on the question of how different co-creation methods can be properly implemented together with people with a visual impairment.

Key question: 'Designing a product or service that fits well with our target group, people with a visual impairment? We all want that! But how do you take care of that?'

In this session, an inclusive innovation process was reviewed, in which the end user was always central. On the basis of several practical examples, it was demonstrated how - together with the end user - a product or service was developed that is really tailored to needs and limitations.

In order to increase the learning effect, various methodologies were discussed that can also be applied in a (future) project – especially intended for audiences who are themselves busy developing a new service or product.

Because you don't innovate for the target group, but with the target group!
